Back in 2012, we had an idea...Let's bring together creative people, with creative ideas, to create a space for supporting entrepreneurship and small business development. The theory was that starting a new business is hard and it's best done with others in community, with shared resources and spaces. The Foundry immediately began taking shape. We invited creatives and innovators; 'big idea' folks and makers; and people committed to supporting others in small business and entrepreneurship.
Today, you can see examples around town now of some of the initial tenants who grew from their start at The Foundry and now have their own storefronts. Zandra Beauty, Sit Upholstery, Autark Brewhouse, Buffalo BottleCraft and others. Seek out these businesses and support their work and the ongoing work of the The Foundry.
The Guild @980 is another example of creative people, doing creative things, in community. We started The Guild in 2015 and today it's the home of over 50 small businesses. Makers, designers, photographers, artisans, visual artists and more.
This is an example of place making, strengthening Buffalo through shared support, community building, and creative problem solving. Come out and visit today! Meet entrepreneurs, visit our store ReUse Action, get involved, and create hope for a City and a Country that is more supportive, more creative, more caring.
